John Gibbs

John Gibbs specializes in 3D computer modeling and animation, artificial intelligence and the creative arts, sound and media design, and modern drama. Before joining UGA, he served as director of the Digital Production Arts program at Clemson University. He has authored and co-authored numerous publications on Maya and 3D computer graphics, with translations into nine languages, and has written widely on artificial intelligence. His Ph.D. dissertation, No-thing is Left to Tell: Zen/Chaos Theory in the Dramatic Art of Samuel Beckett (1999), was published by Fairleigh Dickinson University Press.

In addition to academic work, Gibbs co-founded Artimatic, Inc., a company applying machine learning and AI to challenges in the digital art space. He also extends his educational outreach through his YouTube channel, “Dr. Know-it-all,” where he engages broader audiences on topics aligned with his areas of expertise.
