The Institute for Artificial Intelligence is dedicated to aligning and fostering the diverse, multi-disciplinary research related to AI ongoing in UGA's academic units. This research spans from foundational and use-inspired AI to applications in various fields. To create a more cohesive and inclusive research environment for our faculty fellows, we aim to organize our efforts around five core convergence themes. These themes, which are designed to evolve based on feedback, serve as a framework to bring the wide-ranging interests of the Institute's fellows together. Each theme is broad and expands on core AI research with its considered use in the thematic areas. AI in Education -- AI-driven instruction, assessment, and student learning Ethics of AI for Human Society -- Safe, responsible and justifiable use of AI in any domain AI and Future of Health & Work -- AI-driven advances in drug discovery, practice of medicine, and delivery of healthcare for humans and animals. AI-based agents, robots, and behavioral changes for industrial and organizational transformation AI for 3F (farm, food & forests) -- Enhance farm and forest management, and optimize food systems AI for Cyber & Societal Security -- Strengthen and sustain cyber and societal infrastructure resilience through autonomous threat detection, response, and prevention
