Department Head, Professor- Aesthetics and Philosophy of Art, Philosophical Psychology, Philosophy of Food Dr. Aaron Meskin is Professor and Head of the Department of Philosophy at the University of Georgia. Before joining UGA in 2019, he served as Professor of Philosophical Aesthetics at the University of Leeds and previously taught at Texas Tech University. He earned his Ph.D. from Rutgers University. Dr. Meskin’s research centers on aesthetics and the philosophy of art, with additional work in philosophical psychology and the philosophy of food. His publications address topics such as aesthetic testimony, authorship, the definition of art, emotional responses to fiction, and the philosophical dimensions of comics, video games, and other contemporary art forms. He has co-edited multiple volumes and published widely across leading journals. Dr. Meskin is also active in professional service, holding leadership roles in both the British and American Societies of Aesthetics. His recent work includes collaborative projects on the aesthetics of food and the sensory experience of ethical consumption.
