The Institute for Artificial Intelligence welcomed Dr. Milind Tambe, Gordon McKay Professor of Computer Science at Harvard University and Principal Scientist and Director at Google Research, for the 2026 Signature Lecture series.

Dr. Tambe's talk, "AI for Social Good and Public Health," drew a strong turnout — including faculty from Public Health and Social Work, members of the broader Athens community, and students who showed up even during Spring Break.

The event was organized by IAI and supported by the Office of the Provost, which selected the talk as one of its Signature Lectures for 2025-26. Vice Provost Elizabeth Weeks and Dean Philip Hong from UGA's School of Social Work contributed to the conversation, followed by the Lecture from Dr. Tambe.

The turnout reflects the growing momentum around AI for social impact, and it serves as a reminder that UGA's Institute for Artificial Intelligence has been a hub for this type of research for over 40 years.

We look forward to continuing these conversations at future Institute events.
