This is the research page of Mr.Yan Qu, a first-year master student in Artificial Intelligence, at the University of Georgia.

Yan Qu received his Bachelor degree in Computer Science with Concentration on Software Engineering from the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, Chengdu in 2009.

Before coming to UGA, Yan had been a Software Engineer at Microsoft R&D China and a Research Assistant at the Database Group at UESTC.

Yan's current research interest includes Artificial Intelligence, Web Service and Software Engineering. He is now working with Prof.Potter and Prof.Rasheed on Machine Learning and Computational Intelligence.

You can download his CV at here and all recommendations are available upon requests.

Research

Artificial Intelligence - Machine Learning, Computational Intelligence

-Autonomous Learning in Snake-In-Box Problem (SIB)

This is an on-going research at AI Institute. The purpose for the research is to find an efficient method to crack the Snake-in-the-box problem with modern learning theory. We formulate the problem environment as certain type and put rules for the learning agent for path seeking. Research papers are planned to be written when we progress.

I will be working on SIB this semester, if you have interests, please give me an email. You can also refer to the SIB page at AI institute for details.

-Fuzzy Expert System Framework and Application

spacerobject graph

Our main research is to build up the fuzzy control system with Object-oriented techniques. A brand new framework of fuzzy expert system which organize factual and rule information into objects is raised. It is proved that this framework can be suitable for various fuzzy inference models such as Mandami and other weighted model. The project is currently funded by NNSF and Civil Aviation Administration of China. The air traffic control expert system adopts the object-oriented techniques to portray the aircrafts and other existing facts as well as air traffic control instructions.

Software Engineering and Web Service Component Management

-Autonomous Software Testing Framework on Large scale Web Service

Normally refer as ASTFLW, it is a framework unifying the quality assurance for Web Service. This framework integrates the parameter factory, testing adapter and testing driver together and adopts "matrix impact analysis" which is an efficient software evaluation platform to assess the software quality. The framework can be implemented under C# and Xml techniques.

-GIS application with COM-based techniques(IBM Tech Center)

123

This project is associated with ESRI-CHINA at IBM Technology Center, Chengdu. In order to improve the limitations of ArcObjects library in application developing, we proposed a novel hierarchical structure of ArcObjects. We designed and implemented this GIS system with user-defined interface based COM techniques. With the advanced structure, the original components can extend their functions greatly.

Advisor: Dr.Xiao-xi He
The face recognition function is implemented with high-speed CCD camera. My work focus on the image initialization processing and compression in order to save the limited memory space and enhance the efficiency.
