Planned changes during the summer

We are planning a number of changes to the AI computer network during the summer (after May 8). Here are the tentative plans:

• AIWEB (= www.ai.uga.edu) will become a new 64-bit virtual machine with no change of functionality.
  
  
• Remote access to your AI files will be done with FTPS (using this software or other alternatives) and will be available from anywhere (without requiring VPN).
  
  
• Same as now, remote desktop access to servers will not require a VPN connection if you are within the AI local-area network. Elsewhere, on or off campus, you will use the campus VPN.
  
  
• There will no longer be an AI VPN.
